2027 GMC Terrain vs 2026: What's New?

GMC dropped the controversial continuously variable transmission (CVT) from the 2027 Terrain. It was only available on the Elevation trim package, but now all of the trim levels feature only the tried and true 8-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive packages feature the same transmission, reducing one more decision to make when settling on the right Terrain for your driving needs. The CVT design was first added to certain trim levels to promote better fuel efficiency, but the tradeoffs in noise and performance led to it being dropped from the Terrain lineup in general for the 2027 model year.
